Tajemnica wzniesienia na cmentarzu w Czarnym Dunajcu

W filmie Ukos Światła będą mogli Państwo zobaczyć min. jak cmentarz w trakcie naszego projektu zmienia się. Jednym z niezwykłych odkryć było rozwiązanie tajemnicy wzniesienia na terenie cmentarza. Wszystko zarejestrował reżyser Wojciech Szumowski i wkrótce będą mogli Państwo oglądnąć te momenty w filmie „Ukos Światła”. Górka okazała się być ruinami domu przedpogrzebowego. Wraz z niwelowaniem górki naszym oczom ukazywały się fundamenty tego budynku po, którym na powierzchni nie było śladu. Ziemia skrywa wiele tajemnic o czym przekonuję się podczas każdego projektu. To nie był koniec. Kiedy odsłoniliśmy fundamenty okazało się, że jest zarys dziwnie okrągłej budowli. Kiedy zaczeliśmy odsłaniać krawędzie okazało się, że to studnia. Początkowo uznaliśmy, iż skoro była to Bet Tahara (dom przedpogrzebowy) to musiano skądś czerpać wodę. Mieliśmy już zarys budynku ze studnią i wydawało się, że to wszystko co mogliśmy odkryć w tym miejscu. Jednak część ekipy nie mogła przejść obojętnie wokół tego odkrycia. Jagna Bukowska-Ziółko , Małgorzata Głowacz , Grzegorz Głowacz , Wojtek Glowacz , co jakiś czas wspominali, że warto by wykopać studnię sprawdzić jak była głęboka itp. Początkowo myślałem, że czemu nie. Ale kiedy wykopanych było już kilka metrów a końca nie było widać zacząłem się martwić o ekipę. Ale nie było możliwości ich zatrzymać. I nagle okazało się że pod warstwą gruzu są macewy. W tym odczytana dzięki Jolanta Kruszniewska macewa Sary Fridy, która zmarła w sierpniu 1913 roku i pochowana została na tym cmentarzu. Czemu jej macewa i inne trafiły do studni? Kiedy tam trafiły? Ziemia skrywała kolejną tajemnicę. Dla nas były to niezwykłe chwile, które zapamiętamy na zawsze. Pod naszymi stopami przez cały czas znajdowała się czyjaś historia, która wraz z wrzuceniem nagrobków do studni miała przepaść na zawsze. Nie przepadła!! Prawdopodobnie przeleżała w studni 79 lat. W miejscu studni stoi dzisiaj pomnik menora której świece płoną w rocznice tragicznych wydarzeń. Macewa Sary została poddana renowacji i wkrótce trafi na cmentarz w Czarnym Dunajcu. Historie jak ta towarzyszyły nam co chwila w Czarnym Dunajcu a wszystkie te momenty zarejestrował Wojciech Szumowski.

On the making of the film „Edge of Light”, part 2

The story of the mysterious mound in the Czarny Dunajec cemetery discovered!

„Edge of Light” will disclose to you how the cemetery changed during our project. One of the remarkable discoveries we made concerned the mysterious mound in the cemetery grounds. The director Wojciech Szumowski recorded it all on his camera and you will soon be able to see it for yourselves in „Edge of Light”. The little elevation of the ground turned out to be the ruins of the pre-burial house, of which no sign was left on the surface. As the mound was levelled, the foundations of the building gradually appeared before our eyes. The earth still conceals many secrets, a fact I am faced with in every project. Yet that was not the end, for having uncovered the foundations, we came upon the outline of a round structure, which turned out to be a well once we had started exposing its edges. At first we took it for granted that it must have been the source of water for the Bet Tahara (or pre-burial house), and it seemed that was all there was to discover about it.

However, some of the team were not happy leaving it at that. Every now and again, Jagna Bukowska-Ziółko, Małgorzata Głowacz, Grzegorz Głowacz, and Wojtek Glowacz mentioned it would be worth trying to excavate the well and check how deep it was. At first I thought why not. But once we had dug a few metres into the ground and the end was nowhere to be seen, I started to worry about the team. Yet there was no way of stopping them. And then, suddenly, it turned out there were matzevot underneath the rubble, including the tombstone of Sara Frida, who died in August 1913 and was buried in this cemetery, which was deciphered thanks to Jolanta Kruszniewska. Why did Sara’s matzevah and the other ones end up in the well? When did this happen? The ground hid yet another secret. Those moments were extraordinary for us, and we will remember them forever: There was somebody’s story under our feet all the time, which was to vanish forever with the dumping of the matzevot into the well. Yet it did not vanish! The story lay hidden in the well, probably for 79 years.

A monument now stands where the well used to be, shaped like a menora, whose candles are lit on the anniversaries of the tragic events. Sara’s matzevah has been renovated and will soon be placed in the Czarny Dunajec cemetery. Stories like this one accompanied us every now and then in Czarny Dunajec, and they were all recorded by Wojciech Szumowski.
